Owners of "The Silence of the Lambs 1991" House Struggle to Sell It

The homeowners of this house in Layton, that allowed crews to film scenes for The Silence of the Lambs in their house might be regretting that decision. Sure, the 1991 Oscar-winning movie is a horror classic, but now Scott and Barbara Lloyd are having a hard time finding people interested in buying their abode — likely because it's best known as the home of fictional serial killer Buffalo Bill. Unlike an awful paint color, the creepy factor isn't a feature so easily altered.

But there is good news: People are seriously curious about this listing. In fact, it was the second most clicked-on post on Realtor.com last year. The bad news: Intrigue doesn't always result in sales — so the home that was first listed on the market in August 2015 for $300,000 just dropped to $250,000.

Maybe part of the problem is people think the dungeon from the movie is included. (Don't worry, it's not: those scenes were shot on a soundstage elsewhere.) Or maybe the entryway immediately reminds potential buyers of the scene where Jodie Foster's character is lured deeper and deeper into the home — here's a refresher:

But to be fair, fame might not be the only reason people aren't buying: The home is located in a remote village with fewer than 50 people, and while it features four bedrooms, it only has one bathroom. We think the homeowner's next strategy should be seeking out super fans of the flick to transform it into a museum.
